Product Empties: Volume 4

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

These are the products that I used up during the months of July and August. I used 9 full-size products and 4 travel or sample size products, so I am quite happy with that.

Bath and Body Works Gentle Foaming Soap in “Sunlight and Apple Trees” | Unsurprisingly, this soap smelled of apples. It isn’t one of my favourite scents but I tend to use fruity soaps in the kitchen, which is what I purchased this one for. Repurchase? Probably not, it isn’t a favourite.

Bath and Body Works Gentle Foaming Soap in “Nectarine Sun Tea” | This soap smelled of oranges, which I actually really enjoyed. It wasn’t overpowering or sickly, as some B&BW scents tend to be. Repurchase? Yes.

Tressa Watercolors Violet Wash Shampoo | This is my favourite purple shampoo as it works the best at maintaining my blonde hair color of all the purple shampoos that I’ve tried. This is probably my second or third bottle – I love it that much! I use this regularly, probably 3-4 times a week but the bottle lasts me a long time. Repurchase? Yes, I received a new bottle for my birthday.

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream | I loved the texture and smell of this product and also how it made my skin feel. However, I think it is too thick for everyday use, especially as my skin tends to be more normal-oily than dry. I highly recommend trying this if you have dry skin though! Repurchase? Not right now, as it isn’t suited to my skin type.

Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo in “Color Me Happy” | I loved the scent of this (though it can be cloying in the typical Herbal Essences way) but it was totally ineffective as a dry shampoo. I’ve tried the orange Herbal Essences dry shampoo before and that one worked better, but this one did nothing for my hair. Repurchase? No.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter | I’d like to try another sample of this because I really liked it, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the steep price tag. This sample only provided enough for two uses, so it was hard to form a definite opinion. It feels nice on the skin and absolutely makes your skin glow  (without looking like a disco ball), I’m just not sure if it made my foundation last any longer than usual. I am so tempted to order it from Sephora and give it a proper try. Repurchase? I think I want to purchase a full size. Has anyone tried it?

Onyx 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish Remover | I’ve had this forever, but I’m not particular on my nail polish removers. I usually just buy whatever is on sale at the time. This one worked fine and I think it was cheap but honestly, it’s so old that I’m not even sure if they make it anymore. Repurchase? If the price is right.

Soft Soap Shea Butter Body Wash | I got this in my stocking for Christmas last year and I finally used it this summer. The scent was nice and light and I loved the exfoliating beads during the summer season. The bottle was huge, though, so I was happy to switch it up after I finished this one. Repurchase? Maybe, for a change from my B&BW body washes.

Lancome Primer | The girls at the Sephora store tossed this sample in my bag the last time I was there, however, the description only said “Lancome Primer” so I think it is the LA Base Pro Perfecting Makeup Primer based on the reviews and product description. This primer applied like a dream and made my foundation look amazing. However, I’m not sure that it made my foundation last any longer than usual, which is a necessity for me when I buy primer (especially at this price!). Again, I’d love to have another sample and give it an extended try. Repurchase? If it extended the wear time of my foundation, probably.

Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub | I’ve been using this since high school and I think it’s an effective, affordable option for a facial scrub. It contains salicylic acid which is also great for keeping breakouts away. I didn’t repurchase this because I wanted to try the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser and I was also worried about the beads in the Biore scrub. However, according to this, the beads are not plastic (and therefore not harmful to the environment). Repurchase? Probably!

Origins Clear Improvement Mask | I got 3-4 uses out of this travel-sized mask, which is great! I loved how it dried on my face and really felt like it was sucking the gunk out of my skin. However, my skin is generally normal and I rarely get zits, so I’m not sure how effective it actually is at clearing your skin. I think I just need a mask to help brighten my complexion rather than combat bad skin. Repurchase? I will likely try other Origins masks but I don’t think this one is suited to my skin.

Dove Go Sleeveless Anti-Perspirant | This is my all-time favourite deodorant. I love how it feels on my skin, it is effective, and it smells great. Repurchase? Yes!

NYX HD Concealer | This product is super affordable, creamy, and long-lasting. I’m not sure what else to say about it, other than the fact that is is my holy grail concealer. Repurchase? Yes, I already have.

Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to know if you love them or hate them!
