Product Empties: Volume 3

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

I changed the name of my empties post from monthly empties to a more general "product empties". I found that in one month I rarely had used enough products to make a worthwhile post so my monthly posts were being posted every two months. However, I actually have a huge haul this time from the months of May and June!

First of all, a few regularly used products..

Bath and Body Works Gentle Foaming Soap in "Winter Wonderland" | I don't think I will ever have a product empties post without one of these included as it is the only soap we use in our house! This was a limited edition winter scent with a nice, fruity smell. Repurchase? Yes!

Bath and Body Works Shower Gel in "Jingle All The Way" | This is another frequent flyer in my empty products. This one had a sweet, fruity smell with clementines being the main scent. Repurchase? Yes.

Eos Shave Cream | I used both the vanilla and berry scents and I do enjoy both. These are moisturizing and thick and I love the pump bottle. Repurchase? Yes, I already have!

Now, for the remainder of the products..

Bath and Body Works Bubble Bath in "Warm Vanilla Sugar" | It takes me a while to finish a bottle of bubble bath because a) I rarely take baths anymore, and b) I often use LUSH products when I do. The "Warm Vanilla Sugar" scent is one of the first B&BW scents that I ever purchased and always reminds me of Florida (way before we had a B&BW store here!). Repurchase? Yes, but it isn't a must-have.

Tigi Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray | Well I feel like an idiot because I was attempting to use this as a hairspray and I was going to say it didn't hold my hair very well. Duh, because it's a thickening spray. I cannot give a proper review on this as a result, but it did smell nice. Repurchase? Perhaps, to use it the proper way! Hah!

John Freida Go Blonder In-Shower Lightening Treatment |  I received this product complimentary from Voxbox, however, I received it the day before I had an appointment to get my hair dyed. I used it that night in the shower and absolutely hated the scent (very strong peroxide smell). Not only that but I didn't notice any real difference in my hair color. Repurchase? No, absolutely not.

L'Oreal Volume Collagen Conditioner | This is actually the second bottle that I've purchased of this conditioner. It isn't a holy grail product but it is a good go-to conditioner if I'm not sure what else to buy. Repurchase? Probably.

Sephora Pearl Mask | I love sheet masks but I honestly cannot remember how well this one worked. It did have a lot of essence on the mask and it certainly didn't make my skin any worse! Repurchase? Yes, I'd like to try it again.

Fresh Rose Face Mask | I had a sample of this and I am not sure if the product was gone bad or if it just smelled terrible anyway but I was not a fan. There were pieces of dried up, slimy roses in there as well that really grossed me out. Repurchase? No.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream | This was another sample product but I feel that you need to use an eye cream for more than a couple days to really determine how good it is. There was nothing wrong with this one, but I didn't notice any miracles either. Repurchase? Probably not, but I would try another sample.

Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial | For a small jar, this product lasted me a few months with constant use! It has a very strong rose smell which didn't bother me too much but it wasn't my favourite either. My skin seemed to like this cream as it didn't cause any breakouts. Repurchase? Probably not, only because I don't love the scent.

Nivea Lip Butter | I'm not even sure if this product is still available to purchase. I bought it quite some time ago and kept it on my bedside table to use at night. I didn't actually finish it, the product simply got yucky. I love lip balm in pots but they are so impractical and non-hygienic. It smelled so yummy though! Repurchase? No.

LUSH Santa's Lip Scrub | This is another product that I didn't actually finish but decided to toss. Some water got inside the scrub in the shower and the product turned into a hard lump. I like LUSH's lip scrubs but this one was red and the dye stained the skin which made it super messy and hard to use. Repurchase? Not in this flavour, but I would repurchase a non-colored one.

Covergirl 3-in-1 Foundation | I bought this foundation on sale for about $6 and I wasn't a huge fan at first, but it quickly became one of my favourites. I love that it has SPF and an excellent color selection for fair-skinned girls like myself. I also love the pump function! My only qualm with this foundation was the longevity but I have yet to find one that holds up to a 12-hour shift. Repurchase? Yes, it is a good drugstore foundation option.

Covergirl Lash Blast Pro Plumpify Mascara | I got this in my stocking at Christmas and it was my regular mascara for 3-4 months. The formula is neither too wet nor dry, it has a normal scent, and it provides a decent amount of volume while also thickening the lashes. This is probably my favourite drugstore mascara. Repurchase? Yes!

Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara | This mascara has good reviews but the formula is super dry, which I was not a fan of. It made my lashes look nice but I simply hated the formula. Repurchase? No.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer | I'm not sure how this compares to the Anastasia Brow Wiz but for a drugstore product, I've really been loving it! The tip is fine and easy to work with while the formula is neither too dry nor too creamy and lasts all day. My HG brow product as of now! Repurchase? Already have! I felt lost without this one!

    1. It's entirely possible that my sample was just old! Let me know how you like it if you try it!
