Pixi Beauty Glow Cakes Review

Pixi Beauty is one of the hottest names in drugstore beauty right now and for good reason. Their Glow Tonic has been placed on the top of beauty charts for ages but they also have so much more to offer! I reviewed their MatteLast Liquid Lipsticks (with swatches!) HERE. Recently, Pixi Beauty sent me their Glow Cakes to try.

First of all, how dreamy is the name “Glow Cake”? I am all about the glow this year. Pixi Glow Cakes offer 3-in-1 cheek color in each large, ombre palette. There are two colors available – “GildedBare Glow” and “PinkChampagne Glow”. “GildedBare” glow is a peachy-bronze palette with an awesome highlight, while “PinkChampagne Glow” has a fantastically bold pink blush. Each palette can create a total face look (highlight + blush + bronzer) with the separate colors or can be blended together to create an overall glow.

The Pixi Glow Cakes are infused with peptides, ceramides and antioxidants. The pigmentation is good but these products are shimmery, so I wouldn’t use them for contouring. However, the shimmer is very fine and quite subtle. From a distance, my skin appears glowing, especially with the “GildedBare” palette. I think the “GildedBare” palette is great for a natural, every day look while the “PinkChampagne” palette is better for a glam evening look.

Overall, I think these palettes are great for travel or for creating an easy face look with minimal products. They retail for $28US and are available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada.
